· | Determine what group and folder the new file will be placed to. The group and folder can be determined automatically or manually.

· | Suggest changing group's default folder. If this option is checked, in case the output folder specified in the Add download dialog does not coincide with the group's default folder, FDM will prompt you to change it.
|
· | Start download automatically. If checked, in the Silent Monitoring mode FDM will start new download automatically when it is considered appropriate, without the user's command.
|
· | Use ZIP preview. Check this option if you want to preview the contents of ZIP archives at the beginning of downloading.
|
· | Don't save logs of downloads. If this option is checked, memory usage will be decreased, and FDM will start and shut down faster.
|
· | Automatically delete completed downloads;
|
· | Show downloading progress window for the current download;
|
· | Whether FDM should keep detailed log;
|
· | Show size in bytes only;
|
· | Perform virus check. If you choose this option, you must specify the address of antivirus program and its arguments.

· | Cache the operations of writing the downloaded data to disk. If you choose this option, FDM will be downloading segments of designated size to your computer's memory first, writing them to your hard drive in big chunks, thus increasing the intervals between accessing your hard disk.

· | Prevent computer from stand by while downloading. If you choose this option, you will be able to leave your computer unattended without fearing that it will switch into stand-by mode and interrupt your downloads.
|
· | Display opinions when downloading. This option makes the Download Info area (below the list of downloads) switch into the Opinions tab as soon as you start a download.
|
· | Switch to "Opinions" after downloading. This option makes the Download Info area (below the list of downloads) switch into the Opinions tab for all completed downloads.
|
· | Check each new download before downloading if it is malicious. This option makes FDM check if your intended download was marked as malicious by other FDM users. Below that you can specify the threshold for considering a download malicious.
|
· | Useful if e.g. your ISP boosts your connection speed at night-time, or if your Internet connection is cheaper during certain hours.
|
· | Connection speed: either let FDM determine your Internet connection speed automatically or specify it manually.
|
· | Traffic usage: the traffic usage mode, maximum number of connections running simultaneously, maximum number of connections for one server and maximum number of running downloads.

· | Set FDM to decrease traffic usage on browser activity.

· | Specify whether it should search for mirror URLs;

· | Show "Download It" button: enable an additional button that appears when you hover your mouse pointer over a flash video. This button allows you to initiate video downloads with just one click. Note that this only works in Internet Explorer and Firefox.
